DUDDON PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the Meeting held on Thursday, 4th July 2002 in the
Rankin Room, Victory Hall, Broughton-in-Furness

Present

Cllr Mrs L Burch (Chairman), Cllr H J Barker (Vice Chairman), Cllr A Harrison, Cllr Mrs E Knowles, Cllr Mrs V Glessal, Cllr J S Batten, Cllr J W Curwen.

Minutes

RESOLVED that the Chairman sign, as a correct record, the minutes of the meeting of the Council held on 23 May 2002.

Adjournment of Meeting for Public Discussion

Members of the public raised the question of signpost repairs again, this was in hand and had been the subject of much correspondence recently.

The Council were asked why there had been no bunting in the square for the Jubilee; no requests for help had been received and it had been assumed that the organisers of the Jubilee events did not require financial help from the Council.

Mrs M Lee asked if anything had been heard regarding the alteration to the Chapel wall in Princes Street; Cllr Curwen said that he would be asking about this at a meeting next Monday.

A representative from Cumbria Police said that the only crime to report for the last month was the theft of a chainsaw in Foxfield in broad daylight. A leaflet was to be sent to local residents regarding the increasing problem with drugs.

After considering the correspondence it was decided to take the following action:

210 Clerk to ask for further information with a view to asking Mr Jones to give a talk in Broughton.

231 Clerk to reply that, providing Mr Hathaway is willing, the Council would like him to continue his good work.

232/240 leave advert for Clerk’s position up until next Monday then arrange interviews for applicants

241 RESOLVED to award £100 towards the Sports Day under provisions of S137.

RESOLVED to pay the following from main account:

Wilson Park

The pitch had been inspected by a consultant from Bingley Turf and a report was expected shortly. It was also noted that a tree planted near the gate some years ago by Roger Troughton has died.

Any Other Business

After reports from each Councillor, the following actions were requested:

After a report from Cllr Glessal that the metal seat at the triangle was in need of repair, Cllr Batten volunteered to try to repair it.

Cllr Knowles said that a dog had started roaming loose again - Cllr Curwen to speak to the owner.

Cllr Curwen to attend a Neigbourhood Watch Forum at Barrow Police Station once a month.

A public inquiry is to take place regarding the recent accident at Moss Cottage Foxfield.

Land at Foxfield

It was decided that Cllr Barker and, if agreed, Cllr Hadwin should meet Mr Atkinson to agree the boundary between his property and the land in question; Clerk to attend to photograph the agreed boundary.

Date of Next Meeting

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 9.45 pm and the next meeting set for 25th July 2002.
