DUDDON PARISH COUNCIL Minutes of the Meeting held on Thursday, 27 September 2001 in
the Present Cllr Mrs L Burch (Chairman), Cllr H J Barker (Vice Chairman), Cllr Mrs E Knowles, Cllr Mrs V Glessal, Cllr D Hoggarth, Cllr J S Batten, Cllr Mrs R Read, Cllr J W Curwen, Cllr B Hadwin, Cllr A Harrison (attended late). All present. Minutes RESOLVED that the Chairman sign, as a correct record, the minutes of the meeting of the Council held on 23 August 2001. Matters Arising The Clerk had received confirmation from the Countryside Agency that funds were set aside for the production of a Parish Plan, and had arranged for Gail Knopfel from Voluntary Action Cumbria to describe how to prepare the plan at a meeting of the Broughton 2001 Community Committee on 8th October in Victory Hall. All Councillors had been invited to attend. Adjournment of Meeting for Public Discussion Mrs Morgan reported that the Coniston sign at Lower Hawthwaite had turned, causing a large lorry to block the Broughton Mills road for some time. Clerk to report this to Mr J Bell at CCC. Also there had been an increase in the use of the Coniston road by large coaches, which was in breach of the restrictions of vehicle size. This should be reported to the police. Representative from Rural Transport Partnership, Isabel Thorne, did not attend. Write to CE of CCC to ask what progress has been made on traffic calming scheme, copy to County Councillor. 250 Cllr D Hoggarth volunteered to represent Council at Duddon Estuary Partnership meetings. Clerk to inform Mike Smith. 249 Ensure telephone number for reporting water quality problems is on notice board. 240 Ask for copies of housing vacancy posters to be available to the Clerk. 254 RESOLVED that £150 be set aside in next year’s budget for the Walna Scar road scheme. Financial Matters RESOLVED to pay the following from main account: NORWEB lighting invoice for August £31.64 L Burch Flowers for Charter Day £10.00 LDNPA repair picnic bench Wilson Park £41.13 Neat Ideas per Victory Hall Man Committee (funds received) £472.06 Terry Chemicals Ltd per Victory Hall Man Committee (funds received) £36.43 Wilson Park Cllr Hadwin reported that the drain had been jetted add found to be clear. A partial blockage had been found in another main drain. It was decided to let Tom Glessal carry on and finish the work on the existing drain before asking for any more work to be started. The see-saw had been replaced with one that had been donated, and the swing had been repaired. LDNPA had made a new picnic table, just charging for the materials. The fence had still to be repaired.
