Minutes

RESOLVED that the Chairman sign, as a correct record, the minutes of the meeting of the Council held on 27 September 2001.

Matters Arising

Potholes had been mended on the Croglinhurst road and up the Duddon valley.

More drains in Wilson Park may have to be lifted.

Clerk reported on the meeting of Broughton 2001 group, where the production of the Parish Plan was discussed. Clerk asked to represent the Council on a small informal steering committee, tasked to organise the production of the Plan and to try to take forward the identified main issue of traffic problems (including car parking).

Adjournment of Meeting for Public Discussion

PC Steve Johnston gave a report on recent crimes in the area, including the theft of quad bikes and money from Broughton Mills. It was evident that there had recently been an increase in crime in the area, and it was generally thought that there may be crimes which go unreported

Cllr Curwen reported that there had been another accident at Wreakes and that there should be a raised centreline on the main road to stop traffic moving across into the oncoming traffic.

Mrs Morgan raised the problem of various poor road signs; these had already been reported to Capita. She also asked if it was possible to obtain low energy bulbs; Cllr Curwen said that a road show had been in Broughton but that he would try to find some information on the subject.

It was thought that part of the land providing access to Kitscar Cottage may belong to the Parish. As the cottage was to be auctioned, the Clerk was requested to contact Hodgsons auctioneers to register an interest. Cllr Barker was to investigate the matter.
