Minutes

RESOLVED that the Chairman sign, as a correct record, the minutes of the meeting of the Council held on 25 January 2001.

Matters Arising

Clerk requested to telephone the SLDC Solicitor Mr John Shaw regarding disputed land at Foxfield.

Potholes in road from High Cross to the showfield still have not been repaired, Cllr Curwen to contact Design Services.

Adjournment of Meeting for Public Discussion

The new footpath to Foxfield, which is under construction, was discussed and the Clerk was to invite Mr Tim Collins, MP to the opening ceremony when notified of the date.

A large pothole on the road outside Thos Butlers had been reported to the police in Penrith, but they weren’t interested. Mr Colin Davis sorted the problem out by getting the contractors responsible to repair the hole.

Representives from Cumbria Constabulary discussed the problems being encountered with the closing of the Barrow Police Station at night. It was thought that these were due to teething problems, and that more of these may be encountered in the coming weeks as trained staff from Penrith were being deployed to start another centre in Workington. Clerk was asked to write to the Chief Constable to voice local concerns that the system was not working very well.
