DUDDON PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of the Meeting held on Thursday, 26 April 2001 in the
Rankin Room, Victory Hall, Broughton-in-Furness

Present

Cllr Mrs L Burch (Chairman), Cllr H J Barker (Vice Chairman), Cllr J W Curwen, Cllr B Hadwin, Cllr J S Batten, Cllr Mrs R Read.

Apologies

Cllr Mrs E Knowles, Cllr Mrs V Glessal, Cllr J A Harrison.

Minutes

RESOLVED that the Chairman sign, as a correct record, the minutes of the meeting of the Council held on 22 March 2001.

Matters Arising

Cllr Batten reported that pot holes up the Duddon Valley had just been filled.

Cllr Curwen was looking further into the possibility of a paper bank.

Adjournment of Meeting for Public Discussion

After considering the correspondence it was decided to take the following action:

097 Express interest in the scheme, ask for more costing details.
099 Take advice from SLDC Legal Dept, and reply.
102 Write to Chamber of trade to express support for any initiative and to inform that Council still actively pursuing a car parking site. Wilson Park cannot be used due to terms of original purchase.

Planning Applications

The following planning information had been received:

5/01/9009 Land off Long Row, Marshside Control building & transformer for waste water pumping station.

7/01/5003 High Aulthurstside Cattle building & slurry tank

 

Financial Matters

RESOLVED to pay the following from main account:

Cumbria PFA Annual fee £11.85

CALC Annual subscription £142.00

Cornhill Insurance Annual premium £423.41

Norweb Energi Electricity (funds received from Victory Hall) £180.99

British Gas Gas (funds received from Victory Hall) £64.18

The Clerk is to arrange a meeting of the Financial Working Group to enable an internal audit of the accounts to be carried out before submission to the District Audit.

Street Lighting

The quote received from Cumbria Contract Services was to be accepted. It was also decided to ask the Highways Authority to install a light at Bush Green for footpath safety, and to ask CCC if they could help with a light at Donkey Rocks.

Councillors’ Reports

After hearing reports from Councillors, the following actions were requested:

Regarding a disputed wall in Duddon Valley, Cllr Batten to report back to complainant that land is owned by the builder and is not common ground. Planning officer is to investigate further.

Date of Next Meeting

There being no further business, the meeting closed at 9.30 pm and the next meeting, the Annual General Meeting, set for 25 May 2001.
